Quintal No. 10 - MAR ‘22

The Pink Bourbon variety is a rare find. It was discovered in Huila, Colombia by farmers that noticed the pink hue of the coffee cherries. Pink bourbon surged from a naturally occurring mutation in the bourbon family, which is usually red, yellow, or orange. Pink is the most sought after variation of the family, as well as the most difficult to maintain. Farmers need to isolate the lot to keep pollen grain from adjacent bourbon varieties to turn the pink cherry back to red or yellow.

The effort to maintain pink bourbon, however, is well rewarded. This variety is known for extraordinary sweetness accompanied by bright notes akin to berries–a coffee that is well rounded and results in a smooth, well structured cup that keeps things interesting by adding hints of floral and fruity notes.

Harvested in February 2022, Quintal No. 10 is about tasting one of the rarest varieties found in Colombia, at the absolute peak of freshness. This coffee was milled, roasted at the farm, and delivered to you within a time span of about 8-10 days; exactly how coffee should be experienced.
